The Santa Monica/Fairfax station would serve the central part of West Hollywood home to the densest multi family neighborhoods in WeHo and a variety of neighborhoods serving retail on Santa Monica Blvd. and Fairfax Ave.–many of which occupy unique historic buildings. Already home to some of the busiest bus stops in WeHo, this area will likely remain a major transfer location with future rail service and onward connections via Metro bus services on Fairfax Ave with service to Mid City, Hollywood, Los Feliz, and the San Fernando Valley. Fairfax High School (home to the popular Melrose Trading Post) and trendy shops and businesses along Melrose Ave. are less than half a mile south and buffered bike lanes on Fairfax Ave. make it easy to get there on two wheels if you prefer not to walk. Other community amenities within a block or two include a U.S. Post Office and several smaller schools including the West Hollywood Opportunity Center, Laurel Span School, and Larchmont Charter School Fairfax.
