Privacy Policy & Contact Us
The City of West Hollywood (“City”) has created this privacy policy in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy and to provide information relating to the City’s collection and use of personally identifiable information and non-personally identifiable information. The following discloses our information gathering and use practices for www.metro.weho.org (the “Metro Microsite”).
What information does this Website collect from you?
The City collects personally identifiable information and non-personally identifiable information from you on its Website. Personally identifiable information: This refers to information that allows the City to identify a specific individual. When you engage in certain, optional activities on this Website, such as subscribing to the West Hollywood Advocates for Metro Rail (WHAM) email list facilitated by the City of West Hollywood, the City collects the following types of personally identifiable information:
Email address; Access to personally identifiable information in public records at the City is controlled primarily by the California Public Records Act. (Government Code Section 6250, et seq.)
While the Public Records Act sets the general policies for access to City records, other sections of California code as well as federal laws also deal with confidentiality issues. Non-personally identifiable information: This refers to information that does not allow the City to identify a specific individual and is automatically transmitted by your browser. This information consists of the following: Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of the site you previously visited; Domain names and IP addresses which are numbers that are automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are connected to the internet; Browser version you are using to access the City’s Website. This non-personally identifiable information is used to help diagnose and fix problems with the City’s server and Website. It also assists the City in administering its Website.
What are your choices regarding collection of your information?
This Microsite gives you the following options to remove your information from the City’s database so that you do not receive future communications or service. If users are subscribed to the WHAM e-notification subscription list, they can update or unsubscribe themselves with the unsubscribe and update option visible on every e-notification they receive from the subscription list. You can also send an email to info@whamrail.org to request that the City remove your email address from its email distribution list. As a result, you will not receive emails from WHAM. You can also change the preferences in your browser so that your browser does not accept tracking signals, known as “cookies,” from the Metro Microsite. A cookie is a small data text file, which a website stores on your computer’s hard drive (if your web browser permits) that can later be retrieved to identity you to the City. By modifying your browser preferences, you have the choice to accept all cookies, to be notified when a cookie is set, or to reject all cookies. If you choose to reject all cookies, some parts of our Website may not work properly in your case.
How can you update or correct your Personally Identifiable Information?
This site gives you the following options to modify your personally identifiable information previously collected through the Metro Microsite or the WHAM email list. You may email the following address to request such changes: info@whamrail.org.
If the City makes any material changes to its privacy policy for its Website, it will send an email to those users enrolled on its email distribution list. The City will also update the effective date of the privacy policy on this page.
